Backstory Behind Stephanie and Guest
I came across a video of Dani on Instagram talking about how triggering and ineffective “Us vs. Them” language is. Dani is passionate about helping people identify language patterns that are not working. If each of us took even 5 minutes a day to check-in on the words we use in relation to Dani’s guideline…the state of our relationships would dramatically improve. – Stephanie Michele
Social Challenge of the Week
The Social Challenge for the Week: Word Use Check-In
For the next week, practice a 5-second pause before you speak. In that pause, reword anything you were about to say that comes across negative in a more positive and expansive way. When in doubt, Ask a question instead of making a negative statement.
As you practice the pause – Also pay attention to the words you use the most in negative speech. Challenge yourself to use those words less and develop replacement suggestions.
Replacement Examples:
“I will probably….. ” with “I will….”
“I am not enough…” with “I am ______”
“It’s just an award for……” with “This is an award for…..”
