Keep a Human Encounters Journal –  For every daily human encounter record the following in your journal:

  1. Name or description of person:  (Example: Sam, Barista, UPS man, etc)
  2. What was special about the encounter?
  3. How did you feel after the encounter was over?
  4. Why do you believe you felt that way?

Purpose of this exercise:

  • To get a better sense of your relational needs and wants
  • To appreciate your interdependence with people you encounter regularly.
  • To experience yourself being more present with other people.
